EpoSat - Software for GPS-controlled spreading EpoSat is Epoke’s automatic GPS-controlled spreading system. Before the winter season, the spreader routes are recorded, each recording contains control of, for example, spreading amount, width and symmetry, start/stop of spreading and start of the rotary light. Using EpoSat, the spreader’s position is deter- mined on the route by GPS and based on this position, the spreader’s settings are set. At the same time the spreader’s response time is ta- ken into consideration. On a typical spreading route, EpoSat will auto- matically carry out several hundred changes to the spreader’s settings while the drive can fully concentrate on the road. EpoSat guarantees that the spreading will be uniform and optimal – every time. Other functions EpoSat also includes the functions “user-defined option for overriding spreading parameters”, “stand by” and “resumption of route”, which is especially useful if the driver has had to leave the route be- cause of an accident or other reason. As soon as the spreader is back on the route, Epo- Sat will automatically resume spreading. GPS-spreading at tunnels, viaducts and in dense urban areas with high buildings is carried out automatically and without any problems. This is because the system continuously evaluates the strength of the GPS signal and supports this with “dead reckoning”. WITHOUT GPS-controlled spreading. WITH GPS-controlled spreading.
